ethan grows up:
this lil' boy is now 2! we had a simple birthday celebration with immediate family and close friends at casa verde at the botanic gardens about 2 weekends ago, complete with a thomas the train and toy story themed cake - 2 of his very favourite characters for now, and yes, not forgetting the lightning mcqueen jelly too! check it out!
it was a hot, hot day, but the party was held outdoors as the airconditioned part of the cafe was packed. most times, the kids kept themselves entertained by running amok around the gardens and watering every plant they could find while the adults were just well, busy chatting. the adults got to take home a dozen thomas cookies (mum forgot to take pics!) specially baked by aunty lynnette and the kids received a thomas party bag containing items like a cute portable fan, balloons and pencils! here are some 'hot', happy faces!
it was difficult trying to get the lil' big boy to take pictures as you can see,
but he was most cooperative when its picture time with deborah jie jie! here's proof of it!
anyways, towards the end, everyone was already feeling the heat and all sticky with perspiration, but nevertheless, mummy is sure everyone had a great time despite it being a casual lunch, and not forgetting the yummy pastas and pizzas too!!! :)
ethan's other bits of life:
just like his sister, the boy now takes off his shoes the moment he is seated in his car seat or on a high chair. speaking of which, he is now more demanding than ever and quick to throw a tantrum when he doesn't get what he wants. not that we will give in to his demands anyways... but still, he shows his displeasure by whining, squatting or even sitting on the floor! highly irritating!!! he now wriggles at almost every attempt when he's put in the car seat and even after he is buckled up after a long struggle, he will attempt to 'ún-sit' his carseat on the pretext of wanting to drink milk! he'll just go, 'meak! meak'! (that's how he pronounces the word, 'milk') and demands that mummy nurse him right there and then because he knows that there is no way he can escape the car seat unless its nursing time... argh! that manipulative boy! sometimes, he does gets his way, and when he doesn't, the tear ducts get turned on and the screaming begins.... yes, the beginning of our nightmarish ride. is there any other way to get him seated quietly? YES - the wretched iphone... sigh...
ethan's starting to sing... the very first song that we sorta caught him singing to was the 'thomas the train' theme song. he will sing out the last word of every line and though his pronunciation may be completely off, but still, its hilarious and totally cute! he can recognise all his different trains from thomas and friends, all you need to do is say the name, and he will promptly show you the correct train from his train collection. he is now very good at saying 'mei-you' (in chinese) as well as no'. each time a show finishes and the credits starts rolling, he will go, 'mei you', when his bowl is emptied out, he goes 'mei you' too... mum has since compiled a list of ethan's vocabulary which would be shown in another post. hehehhe :)
he's a real cutie who says bye bye to everything when he has to walk away from it. for instance, if he has to put down his beloved penguin to go for a shower, he will say bye bye to it first. even when we are moving away from the toy department and if he is holding on to a particular toy, he will say bye bye to it too... its just so sweet! he's also a gung-ho little boy in the sense that he simply loves jumping into the swimming pool with just his float around him! he's totally unafraid at all! in fact, he enjoys it so much that he'll be at it over and over again. contrast this to zoe who had to be coaxed into jumping into the water but not before being convinced that 'daddy be there to catch her' with outstretched arms when she jumps. it was only recently that the jie jie has made the 'leap of faith' to jump into the waters on her own. she is all of 4 and ethan only 2!
even before he turned 2, ethan already knows that its his responsibility to turn off the 2 fans in the room before he ventures out when he awakes. and now, whenever we get him changed into outdoor clothes, he promptly goes to put on his shoes on his own after that. then, when its time to shower, he will remove his own diaper and then throw it down the bin. he's so 'índependent' that he even fights to put the dvd into the player each time we wanna play a show for him. that's just him, but nevertheless, mum loves him to bits!!!
