schools.... enrichment classes...what's next???

school holidays have come and almost gone and all that talk about mum revising her driving and then driving the kids to school in january have come to naught. for starters, there was no one to go look after the kids if the daddy's out revising driving with the mummy, then, after daddy's new colleague (who stays a block away) told him that it takes him a good 50 mins to go to work via train (with morning human traffic at its peak), he freaked out and decided that he can't do without the car. and a small second car for mummy will not do cos we simply can't afford it. and so, its back to square one. the 3 of us (mum, zoe and ethan) will have to get to and fro school by feet, stroller, train, bus or taxi! and mum will just have to be doubly tired from all that rushing since both their schools starts at almost the same time. zoe at 11.20am in sengkang and ethan at 11.15am in punggol!!! Lord, give the mum some supersonic feet and energy!!!

having said that, mum is now also contemplating whether to pull ethan out of the appletree playgroup that he's been enrolled in since teacher peggy dropped a bomb 2 weeks ago saying that she will not be teaching there when school re-opens. mum froze, since she was the only reason why ethan was enrolled there in the first place! now that this wonderful teacher is gone, who will accomodate mum's request to drop off ethan earlier in school (even before the morning class ends) so that she can bring zoe to school on time? and that's when the mad, mad search for a playgroup for ethan begins... mum looked around and checked the web and found nothing suitable and good in punggol. it became so desperate that mum was even contemplating uprooting zoe and sending them both to a school in one of the churches in potong pasir! quite a fair bit of travelling to do, but well, at least they have classes for zoethan and at the same timing too. the only drawback was the amount that we had to spend on taxi fare every afternoon to get home. a fair bit - in the long run. then, mum thought she found a perfect school in the form of a montessori playgroup just a bus stop away from home and even though it will cost more than triple of what we pay appletree monthly, but with the fantastic curriculum that they have which mum thought would benefit the boy greatly, at least hey, we can save on the travelling time. alas, it was just not meant to be. at the very last minute, mum found tons of negative reviews from parents on the web about the teachers and centre which was just like shocking, so, bye bye montessori!!! though mum thank God for finding out the truth, but it just means that the search begins again... help!!!

towards the the end of november, zoethan started started on their art therapy classes which mum feels is really money well spent. what exactly it is, mum can't describe, but besides the usual art, drawing, painting and craft lessons, there's baking and whats not too. the teachers will try to incorporate a bit of science and maths during the lessons, plus also aim to build up the kids character on a whole too... or something like that. speaking with the founder gave mum a great assurance that the kids are definitely in good hands, plus the kids are never rushed through when having lessons despite it supposedly being a one hour session, but the lesson stretches on with the teacher patiently guiding on if the kids are not done with their work. plus, the school's priority is not in making money out of the parents, but in nuturing the little ones! the teacher student ratio is also kept really low, like 1 is to 5, but for now, there's only 3 students (zoe inclusive) for zoe's class and ethan's the only one in his class, which means 100% attention! mum's really pleased with the class and teachers and besides, zoethan's always looking forward to going for classes every week! that's just fantastic!!! :)
