the very sickening playgroup teacher and assistant...

at the beginning of this year, ethan was to have started his playgroup classes at appletree but mum withdrew him after barely 1.5 days - all because of the very 'sickening' new playgroup teacher and assistant!

ethan attended his vey first playgroup session on a thursday (owing to his injury a week ago) while his other classmates had already started earlier that monday. right from the beginning, mum already didn't have too good an impression on the teacher as she was rather curt, blunt and in fact, untactful in the way she dealt with us parents just before classes began. in fact, she even told off a parent who was 'peeping' (by the window to check if his child is fine) and this was what she said, 'ay, who's that peeping ah? don't peep! you only make your child cry!!!' mum was s.h.o.c.k.e.d... what was this new teacher even thinking of??? couldn't she have just put it nicely???

and as the class proceeded and music was being played, one of the children, who had been seated, got up and started dancing and swaying to the music. however, she was ordered to sit down just because it wasn't jumping time and also because she (the teacher) wasn't jumping! not only that, she kept asking the very independent boy (whose parents weren't around) to keep quiet when he was trying to tell her something after the song finished playing. she didn't bother with letting him finish his sentence and instead, just shush him up, there and then. later on,
when a girl burst out crying, she also didn't bother with pacifying her and in fact, merely continued with reading the book as if nothing had happened. other classics included her telling off the kid who hit another kid in a very rude manner right in front of the parents, and when she couldn't get the 'bully' to apologise, she quickly asked the parent to take him away! mum was totally flabbergasted by then and couldn't understand how the other parents had 'survived' their first 3 days in school with her! finally, she even chided ethan for sitting down with his legs outstretched and 'ordered' him to sit down 'with legs crossed'!!! the final straw came when the teacher asked mum and another parent to 'control our kids' when all they did was merely stand or lie down when everyone else was seated cos she couldn't control them. you are a teacher and yet, the parents have to control the kids??? what will happen in the weeks to come when the parents aren't allowed to sit in anymore? *eyes rolled*

As for the assistant at the centre, being new, she wasn't able to handle the kids well besides asking and taking the crying kids out of the classroom and 'shoving' the bowl into the kids' face to 'vomit' because they were crying really hard. mum was eventually freaked out when infomed by another mum at the centre that ethan was left alone in the toilet the day before because he was crying when mum left the centre briefly! that was the final straw - after 1.5 days at school, mum decided that she's had enough of the teacher and assistant, grabbed ethan and whatever belongings and left the centre. enough was enough...

a complaint was subsequently lodged with the centre's supervisors and eventually the director and since then, mum has asked for a full refund of the school fees and is now on a lookout for an alternative playgroup for ethan. this experience has led mum to feel that the teachers these days are really scary. it seems that monitoring is really essential, not the kids, but the teacher and his/her respective assistant. sigh...
